Class details
We are pleased to invite you to an exciting conference entitled “Little Burgundy: Harlem of the North”. Hosted by Michael P. Farkas, a leading figure in the neighborhood community, the event will highlight the rich and diverse heritage of Quebec’s black and Afro-descendant communities, with a particular focus on Little Burgundy.
Michaël will share stories (some from his own experience) and analysis of the cultural, social and economic impact of Afro-Quebecers in this region. You’ll discover how Little Burgundy, often dubbed the “Harlem of the North”, has been a hotbed of creativity, resistance and solidarity over the decades.
Participants will have the opportunity to explore themes such as the evolution of black communities, artistic and musical contributions, and struggles for civil rights and equality.
Time will be set aside for questions and discussion. Testimonials from members of the community will also take part in the discussion.
Join us to celebrate and honor Black history, while discovering the invaluable contributions that have shaped Little Burgundy and Quebec as a whole. This conference promises to be an enriching and inspiring experience for all.
